How to Introduce Yourself as a Multi-Hyphenate

Not being easily defined is both the price we pay and the point of being a multi-hyphenate.

For the past couple of months, I've been making more of an effort to really live my personal brand and not just build it out in Figma. That has included going to more IRL events (even on school nights!) and building a community that I can interact with in 3D.

With that, I can confidently say I've been getting my reps in on delivering the notorious “elevator pitch.”

Introducing yourself when you do one thing is already hard. Attempting to land that plane as a multi-hyphenate? You might be circling in the air for a while.

In an introduction, you only get so many uninterrupted sentences before you turn your conversation partner into a hostage. But as multi-hyphenates, many of us are walking paragraphs.
