Solange’s Theory of Career Architecture

Solange, the woman that you are…

I was at Mellow Mushroom yesterday when Losing You by Solange came on. I paused mid-slice just to marvel at the fact that this song was released in 2012, then re-entered the collective consciousness over a decade later with such a level of obsession and repeat listening you'd think it came out last week.

Also in those 10+ years, Solange has moved on. And then moved on again. She released two more full albums. She designed homeware. She composed a ballet. She curated a community library of rare edition and out-of-print books from the Black literary archive. She just announced her next adventure to teach and study at USC.

She's built a career on top of her multitudes. And while she's planting new seeds, her old plants continue to bear fruit. She runs her life the professionally prolific way.
