Gambling In Public
You may not want to hear this, and I know you’re definitely tired of hearing the term by now, nevertheless…hear me out: I think building in public is actually one of the best strategies a multi-hyphenate can use to propel their careers forward.
Even as we hop from project to project, building in public allows us to keep:
Selling our offerings
Attracting opportunities (jobs, collaborations, press, etc.)
Building an audience that is loyal through all the pivots
Why? Because building in public shows your lens in practice. In the first deck from my lecture series, I explained that your lens, not your tenure, is your leverage as someone who is constantly evolving in their career.
Your lens = your discernment, your standards, your worldview, and the durable frameworks that guide you through decisions even in uncharted territory. This is what you bring to every new project and what allows you to confidently address the problems you have to solve within them.
